The 13th annual Manulife Walk For Memories 2009 in Kitchener Waterloo brought a spirit of hope and community to the over 160 participants, 20 volunteers and 20 special guests who attended on Sunday, January 25th. Individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia walked or skated alongside caregivers, professional support workers, political dignitaries, staff and friends of ASKW. Many were seen on CTV News that night in a special clip featuring the walk and the work of the Society.
It was exciting to see a huge growth in the number of teams, which together contributed over $19,000 to the events total. Premier Homecare Services topped the team results by raising an incredible $5,831 in donations between their 10 team members. Thanks to efforts like that, the Alzheimer Society of Kitchener Waterloo had its most successful Walk in its history and raised $43, 233.
We would like to send a special "Thank You" to all the staff and volunteers who spent hours organizing and setting up this even; we had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. Due to our fundraising efforts, we were featured in 'SNAP' magazine, click this link and see! http://www.snapkw.com/display/84541/1064/
